About the Event
This professional training is FREE and intended for classroom teachers, physical education teachers, and youth activity program staff. The activities are appropriate for use with elementary and middle schools. Our goal is to provide new activities with a focus on integrating health education and promoting mental well-being with physical activity. Activities presented will help promote health education concepts, experiential learning, team building, cooperation, and communication.
This training is hosted by Indian Health Care Resource Center of Tulsa, the Muscogee Creek Nation, the Wewoka Indian Clinic, the Tulsa Health Department – It’s All about Kids program, and is supported by the
Southern Plains Tribal Health Board.
The training will feature guest presenter John Reid. John is a Physical Educator from Gilcrest Elementary School in Colorado. He has presented at every SHAPE Colorado conference since 2017 and has presented nationally at SHAPE America in Tampa Bay, New Orleans, and Seattle conferences. John has been awarded Teacher of the Year by Weld RE-1 and was recently awarded the 2022 Young Professional of the Year by SHAPE Colorado. He is a 2019 graduate of the University of Northern Colorado. John believes Physical Education is the perfect opportunity to inspire young people to be healthy and active for a lifetime.
