JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for patient health education, completing grant duties and complying with diabetes accreditation standards. Dietitians will provide one-one-one clinical education to patients regarding prevention and management of a variety of diseases and conditions. Dietitians will provide group education classes to promote healthy lifestyle changes and management of health conditions/disease. Dietitians are part of a clinical education team and may have other duties related to the department goals and overall strategic plan of IHCRC.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT) regarding proper nutrition for health promotion and disease prevention and management.

  • Provides diabetes self-management education/support (DSMES) for health promotion, disease prevention and management.

  • Maintains necessary documentation for program accreditation and grant requirements.

  • Successfully communicates the need to adapt healthier lifestyle behavior to adults and children.

  • Participates in health fairs, teaches cooking classes for adults, and participates in other community events to promote healthy lifestyles.

  • Keeps track of referrals, monitoring progress of patients and appointments.

REQUIRED LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, SPECIALIZED SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics. Master’s Degree preferred.

  • 1+ years’ experience as a registered dietitian.

  • Registration as a Dietitian with the Commission of Dietetic Registration and licensing with State of Oklahoma.

  • Current and valid Oklahoma Dietitian license.

  • Intermediate computer skills
