JOB SUMMARY

IHCRC pharmacists are healthcare professionals responsible for the safe dispensing of medications to patients as prescribed by clinic medical providers. Pharmacists assist in the supervision of the daily workings of the pharmacy and its staff, research patient medication histories, allergies and drug interactions, verify prescriptions, consult with insurance, and provide comprehensive counseling to patients, among other duties. They work closely with both nursing and provider staff to best take care of patients’ medication needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Performs duties within the scope of licensure and professional ethics standards.

  • Accurately and efficiently dispenses prescribed drugs per provider instructions and established guidelines.

  • Consults with medical staff about potential drug interactions, patient medical history, and the use of particular medications.

  • Counsel’s patients about medications and dosing instructions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, SPECIALIZED SKILLS

  • Current and valid Oklahoma PharmD or DPh license from an accredited school of Pharmacy program.

  • Must be registered with the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy.

  • 4+ years working in a clinical environment preferred.

  • BLS CPR certification.

  • Intermediate computer skills.

  • Strong written and communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to multi-task.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

The employee is on feet most of day, both on the computer and interacting with others. Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting. This position performs tasks that may involve direct exposure to patients. Incumbent will be exposed to virus, disease and infection from patients and in working environment. Personal protective equipment use is required.
