JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Health Fitness Educator to join our growing Health and Wellness Department. The Health Fitness Educator educates people on the importance of physical activity and teaches them engaging in fun ways to improve fitness in effort to prevent/combat disease.This role coordinates and conducts fitness and wellness activities, such as one-on-one training, exercise classes, and special events. Responsible for assessing patients and updating progress in patient records. Performs administrative tasks related to fitness including registering participants for races, recording grant data, and making arrangements with community partners to facilitate events.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assists the activities of the Running Strong program.
Meets the goals of the supporting grants from various agencies.
Manages the patient fitness program, including securing medical clearances, designing fitness programs, monitoring patient progress, and charting in EHR.
Works with Marketing to create instructional videos.
Assist with activities for employee wellness program as directed.
Assist with various special events including the Family Fun and Fitness Day, health fairs, community events.
Collect, manage and report data from various programs.
Willingness to work an irregular schedule to participate in Running Strong and Family Fun and Fitness Activities.
REQUIRED LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, SPECIALIZED SKILLS
Bachelor’s degree in health promotion or fitness field or equivalent work experience.
Experience working with the Native American population.
Personal Trainer or Exercise Specialist certification from a Nationally Recognized Organization preferred.
Yoga certification from a Nationally Recognized Organization preferred.
2+ years of health promotion and fitness experience.
BLS CPR certification.
Physical ability to run at least 3 miles without stopping. Ability to run and pace self with others varying abilities.
Must be able to adjust schedule to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS
When working at desk/computer, mostly sedentary. Must be able to sit in a chair to do the work. Must be able to maneuver the body while sitting and using a computer keyboard. While performing fitness duties, must be able to use and demonstrate multiple types of exercise equipment, picking up and putting down various weights, up to 50 lbs. Physical ability to run and exercise both indoors and outdoors, adjusting to seasonal elements as needed. Engages in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention.
