JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Optometrist to join our growing medical team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services, including vision examinations, diagnosis, and treatment of eye diseases and conditions. The Optometrist will work closely with patients to ensure their visual health and overall well-being while maintaining a high standard of patient care. Position includes flexibility of choosing 4 10-hour shifts (including Friday) or 5 8-hour shifts. NO CALL and NO WEEKENDS required!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct thorough eye examinations to assess vision and detect eye diseases.

  • Provides comprehensive primary care medical services within the scope of licensure, approved IHCRC privileges, and professional ethics standards,

  • Works with the appropriate leadership to ensure the Optometry Department has appropriate resources to meet the needs of patients and is working toward the IHCRC mission.

  • Actively pursues quality improvement using GPRA measures, AAAHC recommendations, and ADA guidelines as baseline standards.

  • Provide appropriate prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses.

  • Diagnose and manage ocular diseases, including glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy.

  • Educate patients on proper eye care practices and the use of corrective lenses.

  • Maintain accurate medical records using EMR and EHR systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

  • Perform routine tests to measure visual acuity, depth perception, color vision, and other visual functions.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to enhance patient satisfaction and retention.

  • Works well with other team members and departments of the interdisciplinary care team.

  • Demonstrates clinical proficiency in the field through peer review and direct observation by members of the care team.

  • Participates in company meetings.

REQUIRED LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, SPECIALIZED SKILLS

Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.

2 years of experience in an optometry setting is preferred.

Familiarity with medical terminology related to eye care.

BLS/CPR Certification

Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for managing patient records.

Strong communication skills with a focus on patient care and customer service.
