JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our expanding Dental Department. The ideal candidate will demonstrate appropriate skills to support the dentists during procedures, ensure patient comfort, and maintain a sterile and organized clinical environment. This role is essential for delivering exceptional dental care and ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Prepare treatment rooms and patients for dental procedures
Demonstrates proficiency with Dentrix and the EHR. Enters relevant ADA codes into Dentrix for review and completion by the dentists.
Assist the dentist during various dental treatments and procedures
Sterilize and disinfect instruments, equipment, and operatory areas
Take and process dental x-rays (if certified)
Maintain accurate patient records and charting in compliance with privacy laws
Provide postoperative instructions as directed by the dentist
Ensure inventory is stocked and order supplies as needed
Educate patients on oral hygiene, dental procedures, and follow-up care
Support front desk operations as needed, including scheduling and billing
REQUIRED LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, SPECIALIZED SKILLS
High school diploma or equivalent required
Completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred
Current [State] Dental Assistant Certification (if required by state)
X-ray certification (preferred or required, depending on state regulations)
CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
Strong attention to detail and organization
1+ years of clinical experience preferred.
BLS CPR certification.
Demonstrated proficiency in obtaining patient vital signs.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with dental practice management software.
