About the Event
A community collaboration between Indian Health Care Resource Center and Indian Health Service brings the annual “Wisdom Warriors: Just Move It!" Elder Summit to Tulsa this summer!
Elders are the backbone of our American Indian community, and this event will showcase resources and information available so everyone can make good, informed decisions about their health and wellbeing. Plus, this summit will bring peers together to share in wonderful, enriching activities that encourage fitness and good health.
Featured speakers include:
James Hutchins, MD, Ascension St. John Jane Phillips Medical Center of Bartlesville Chief of Psychiatry, geriatric psychiatrist and healthy living leader.
Morgan Hamilton, MPH: Oklahoma State Department of Health Healthy Brain, Heart, Diabetes, and Tobacco Program Manager.
Ron Eppes, International Association for Indigenous Aging, Director of Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease Projects.
Cassie Rebeor, CFLE-P, Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS) later in life outreach/client advocate.
Featured activities include:
• Exercise activities including band exercises, round dancing, making medicine bags.
• Tai Chi, chair exercise bingo, chair yoga, and gardening/flower planting.
• Raffles with prizes throughout the day.
Transportation assistance is available for active IHCRC patients. Additionally, a Tulsa City bus stop is available at Veterans Park.
This summit is a community collaboration by Indian Health Care Resource Center of Tulsa and Indian Health Service.
