JOB SUMMARY

Organize and direct the daily activities of the laboratory. Responsible for supervising laboratory personnel, conducting and overseeing quality assurance and quality control in compliance with standards and regulations and implement safety protocols. Suggest improvements to process and is a knowledge resource for other team members.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ensures laboratory department meets all State and Federal guidelines, as well as CLIA, OSHA, and AAAHC standards.

  • Adheres to and ensures all Laboratory staff adheres to the proper collection and preparation procedures of blood, serum, urine, tissue and specimen culture.

  • Maintains daily logs for Laboratory.

  • Ensures Lab supplies are ordered and available at all times.

  • Timely and accurately prepares required monthly IHCRC reports.

  • Works with staff, leadership, and outside reference labs to problem solve and ensure efficient lab operations.

 

REQUIRED LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, SPECIALIZED SKILLS

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy program. Medical Technologist program a plus.

  • 3-5+ years experience with blood draws on all age ranges.

  • 2+ years experience supervising staff and Lab programs/procedures.

  • Intermediate computer skills. Familiarity with electronic health record programs.

  • Organized and detail oriented.  Ability to lead others promote productivity and team cohesiveness.

  • BLS CPR certification.
