Indian Health Care Resource Center promotes quality health care by providing culturally sensitive access to comprehensive medical services. Conforming to quality assurance and medical practice standards, IHCRC is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
Medical personnel provide acute care, preventive care and chronic disease management services to Tulsa's diverse American Indian population. The medical team, comprised of family medicine physicians, a pediatrician and three physician assistants, is supported by a staff of nurses, medical assistants and diagnostic personnel. Medical care is offered to patients of all ages. Chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and asthma are managed with evaluation, routine care and patient education. Internal referrals are made to diagnose and treat co-occurring vision, dental, diabetes, mental health and substance abuse needs.
IHCRC offers a full range of preventive health services for men and women. Adult health services include nutrition and weight management counseling, health education and management of chronic health conditions. Women's health programs include mammography, family planning, osteoporosis and menopause counseling and treatment. Diagnostic tests and appropriate treatment are provided for sexually transmitted diseases.
Clients with diabetes are assisted in the proper management of their disease by an interdisciplinary team comprised of physicians, nurses, dietitians, an exercise specialist, the optometrist and the dentist. The Health Education and Wellness staff provide nutritional and fitness instruction, while medical personnel instruct patients on control of blood sugar levels, as well as care and treatment of feet.
