Goines

Dayna Goines, RN, New Public Health Nurse

The Indian Health Care Resource Center of Tulsa (IHCRC) hired Dayna Goines, RN as our second Public Health Nurse (PHN) to better ensure the public health needs of our patients are addressed. Dayna is a Registered Nurse who works in concert with IHCRC's other PHN, Tanya Fellows-Baldwin, RN. Both nurses are available to serve all IHCRC patients - the nurses do not have caseloads of assigned patients.

Together, IHCRC's two public health nurses provide health education and disease prevention counseling, assist the Wellness Department dietitians with the diabetes program and serve as part of the women's health program medical team. Another responsibility of the public health nurses is conducting disease surveillance and the reporting of pathogens to the Oklahoma State Department of Health, including hepatitis and sexually transmitted diseases.

Dayna joined IHCRC in August 2010 as a Public Health Nurse. She is licensed through the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northeastern State University and an Associate of Science degree in Nursing from Connors State College.

Dayna comes to IHCRC most recently from Arms Around Broken Arrow, a free health clinic where she volunteered. She has previously served as the School Nurse for Catoosa Public Schools and as a Children First Nurse at the Wagoner County Health Department. Children First is a voluntary family support program that offers home visitation services to mothers expecting their first child. These public health nurses maintain a caseload of pregnant and parenting women to which they provide prenatal and parenting education, followed with child safety and child development education after the baby is born.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular Biology from the Northeastern State University (NSU) in 2007.
