Dance of the Two Moons 2010

Save the date of Saturday, April 24, 2010 and make plans to celebrate the 20th annual Dance of the Two Moons. This year's fundraising event for Indian Health Care Resource Center of Tulsa will return to the new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tulsa, located at 777 West Cherokee Street, Catoosa, OK.

The 2010 Dance of the Two Moons will feature a great mix of activities guaranteed to provide an entertaining and enjoyable evening. The event will begin with an exceptional dinner and silent auction. You will be entertained with traditional Native American dancing by Mike and Lisa Pahsetopah. We are also pleased to bring back The Fabulous Mid-Life Crisis Band to keep the party lively and our guests dancing.

The Honorary Chair of the 2010 Dance of the Two Moons is Mr. Donne Pitman, Manager, Chapman Foundations Management, LLC. The Chapman Foundations are strong supporters of Indian Health Care and understand that many children do not have guaranteed access to quality health care and health education actives. Mr. Pitman and the Chapman Foundations share IHCRC's commitment to help reduce health disparities and promote healthy living.

In keeping with recent tradition, the proceeds from the Dance of the Two Moons will help fund healthy, active summer camp for our Native youth. Last year, Indian Health Care provided 400 Native American children with the opportunity to attend one of our summer wellness camps. It takes $225 to provide a week of camp activities for a child. This cost includes food, materials, professional staffing and facility fees. By supporting the Dance of the Two Moons, you will help IHCRC continue to provide children with lifelong memories. What a wonderful way for you to brighten a child's future.

The summer camp programs focus on providing our children with the tools and knowledge they need to live a healthy active lifestyle. Additionally, we have added a gardening component to the spring and summer camp programs. This is one of the many ways IHCRC is working to combat childhood obesity. Currently, IHCRC's pediatric patients far exceed the national weight averages - 17% of our patients ages 6-19 are overweight and 30% are obese. Combining these two figures yields a total of 47% of Native children and youth who are either overweight or obese. Of our patients age 2-5, 36% are overweight or obese.

Event tickets are $100 each or $175 per couple. Five sponsorship levels are available ranging from $1,500 to $10,000. For more information about the Dance of the Two Moons or to purchase a sponsorship or tickets, please contact Emily Bolusky at 382-1206 or email at twomoons@ihcrc.org
