Indian Health Care Resource Center of Tulsa welcomes new health providers
If you haven’t been to Indian Health Care Resource Center of Tulsa (IHCRC) in a while, there are many new faces here to serve you. Of those, we are proud to welcome the following providers to the IHCRC family and hope they will be a part of our very special team for a long time to come. The following mini-biographies will give you a chance to get to know our new staff a bit better.
Lynne Burson, CNM – Nurse Midwife
Lynne Burson is a Certified Nurse Midwife who provides midwifery services at IHCRC through a contract with the University of Oklahoma Women’s Health Care Specialists. Lynne is the Director of Midwifery Services in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at OU. Lynne has served as an Adjunct Instructor in the School of Nursing at the University of Kansas Medical Center from 2004 to present. She has previously served as volunteer faculty in the School of Nursing at OU and a Nurse Midwife for Planned Parenthood of Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma from 2001 to 2003. Lynne has a Master of Science in Midwifery and a Certificate in Nurse-Midwifery from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from D-Youville College in Buffalo, New York.
Elizabeth Duncklee, LCSW – Social Worker
Elizabeth Duncklee is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), as well as an Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Certified Behavioral Health Case Manager. Elizabeth comes to IHCRC from CREOKS Behavioral Health in Sapulpa where she served as the Site Director from 2006 to present. Previously, she held the positions of Clinical Coordinator, Outpatient Therapist and Case Manager at CREOKS. Elizabeth has also worked at the Community Service Council of Greater Tulsa as a Family Support Specialist. Elizabeth holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Social Work and a Master of Business Administration in Behavioral Science and Statistics both of which she earned at The University of Chicago. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Management from the Colorado Women’s College in Denver, Colorado.
David K. Haggard, MD – Gynecologist
Dr. Haggard serves as a gynecologist at Indian Health Care. Dr. Haggard is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. He received his OBGYN training at the University of Texas. He was previously in business as OB/GYN Medical Management, Incorporated from 1994 to 2003. He was also a founding partner of the gynecological and obstetrics partnership of Lindstrom, Ketchum, Goldberg, Haggard and Shane from 1969 to 1994. Dr. Haggard has had privileges at Saint Francis Hospital, St. John Hospital in Sapulpa and Tulsa and at Southcrest Hospital. Dr. Haggard attended the University of Nebraska School of Medicine where he earned a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees.
Stephen Martin, DO – Family Practice Physician
Dr. Stephen Martin is a Doctor of Osteopathy licensed in the state of Oklahoma. He has been in private practice for most of his career at the Turley Family Clinic, formerly known as the Cherokee Clinic since 1979. In 2008, Dr. Martin closed his clinic to assume a position as a family practice physician at IHCRC. Dr. Martin has also been an Adjunct Clinical Faculty member for Oklahoma State University and served as a physician for the University of Tulsa’s Alexander Health Center. Dr. Martin has had privileges at Hillcrest Medical Center and at the OSU Medical Center, formerly known as Tulsa Regional Medical Center. Dr. Martin was honored twice as Doctor of the Day by the Oklahoma State Senate in 1984 and 1994. Dr. Martin earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
Carla J. Pohl, MSN, CNM – Nurse Midwife
Carla Pohl is a Certified Nurse Midwife who provides midwifery services at IHCRC through a contract with the University of Oklahoma Women’s Health Care Specialists. Carla has also serves as an Instructor at the University of Oklahoma and has served as an Assistant Professor at Aurora University. Carla was both the Director of Women’s Health from 1999 to 2002 and a Nurse Manager from 2002 to 2004 for the Oklahoma State Department of Health. Carla was the Lead Nurse for the OKC County Health Department from 1998 to 1999 and Community Health Nurse II for Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department from 1993 to 1998. Carla earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Arizona State University and a Certificate of Nurse-Midwifery from the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing.
Charles Vaughan, LCSW, LADC – Substance Abuse Counselor
Charles Vaughan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) a member of the Academy of Clinical Social Workers (ACSW) an OSBLSW and OBLADC board approved supervisor and CBHCM case manager. Charles comes to IHCRC from CREOKS Behavioral Health in Sapulpa where he was employed as an outpatient therapist. He has also worked in the behavioral health field at Laureate Psychiatric Clinic, Tulsa C.A.R.E.S. and Green Country Behavioral Health Services. Charles holds a Master of Science degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee and a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida International University in Miami.
Sherry Warlick, CNM – Nurse Midwife
Sherry Warlick is a Certified Nurse Midwife who directs the new midwifery program at IHCRC through a contract with the University of Oklahoma Women’s Health Care Specialists. Sherry worked as a Nurse-Midwife for the Associated Women’s Specialists from 1997 to 2005 and Clinical Nurse, Labor and Delivery for St. John Medical Center from 1979 to 1996. Sherry earned her Certificate of Midwifery from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Tulsa Community College. Sherry is the mother of former Indian Health Care medical providers Ethan Warlick, MD, Pediatrician and Matt Warlick, DDS.
Robert Lee Warren, DDS – Dentist
Dr. Warren serves as a general practice dentist at Indian Health Care. He previously worked as a dentist for Bret Anderson, DDS from 2007 to present. He had his own dental practice in Del City, Oklahoma from 1980 to 2007. Dr. Warren earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State University and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry.
