Family Practice Physician Regular; Full-time; FLSA: Exempt Medical Director Medical |

The Physician is an independent direct health care provider. This position exercises some independent medical judgment, may write prescriptions, make diagnosis, and initiate treatment for pediatrics, OB/GYN adult acute and chronic care.
1. Examines patients:
· Utilizes diagnostic aids such as stethoscope, sphygmomanometer, thermometer, and other instruments.
· Orders or executes various tests, analysis, and x-rays to provide information on patient’s condition.
· Analyzes reports and findings of tests, analysis, and x-ray to provide information on patient’s condition.
· Administers or prescribes treatment and medications.
· Promotes health by advising patients to immunize them from communicable diseases.
· Inoculates and vaccinates patients to immunize them form communicable diseases.
· Performs surgical procedures commensurate with surgical competency.
· Refers patients to medical specialist for consultant services when necessary for patient’s well being.
2. Obtains patient medical and family history. Performs comprehensive physical examinations.
3. Provides routine screening test, such as visual/hearing disorders, and routine neurology.
4. Orders and can interpret routine laboratory test, such as blood counts, urinalysis, and etc.
5. Collects specimens, as needed.
6. Sutures minor lacerations and changes routine dressings.
7. Organizes data.
8. Cares for general family medicine; including obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, and geriatrics.
9. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
10. Completes required correspondence and prepares all required IHCRC monthly reports.
Quality Assurance Responsibilities
1. Maintains legible and complete records.
2. Keeps records updated for reviews, audits, and contract purposes.
3. Maintains good working relationship with local, county, state, tribal, and federal agencies.
4. Attends all department meetings as required by supervisor.
5. Attends Quality Assurance meetings as needed.
6. Assists in compiling and writing reports.
7. Attends all IHCRC meetings as require by supervisor.
Evaluation Responsibilities
1. Maintains records according to clinic procedures.
2. Assist in the identification of health trends and health needs of the target clinic population.
training and experience
1. Successful completion of a Family Practice Program or equivalent experience.
2. Has a current Physician’s license and State and Federal Narcotics license.
3. CPR Certified
4. Knowledge of computer technical skills and relevant software applications.

1. Knowledge of community health.

3. Demonstrate accuracy with record keeping.
4. Able to maintain HIPAA requirements.
5. Able to demonstrate knowledge of Indian culture.
6. High interpersonal skills necessary to maintain a professional and impartial relationship, as well as have the ability to work productively with patients, their families, clinic staff, and other health care providers in the community.
7. Ability to handle issues and make decisions under normal time pressures.
1. There may be some standing, walking, bending, carrying of light items (up to 10 pounds) such as books, files, instruments, lifting of small children (up to 50 pounds), assisting patients to exam rooms.
2. Typical physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job, taking distance and speed into account.
3. Sufficient dexterity of hands and fingers to communicate in writing and/or by computer, open files, manipulate instruments, and assisting patients.
4. Typical hand-eye and hand-foot coordination to safely handle infants and children.
5. Typical endurance to work at least eight hours per day.
6. Typical abilities to perceive information through sight, hearing, or equivalent.
7. Typical abilities to distinguish colors and tactile sensations (sense of touch).
