Works under general supervision performing complex duties following established procedures.  Provides promotion of health and disease prevention education, youth and family services and advocacy, asset-building services, mentor training, and collaborate with program partners.

Conduct community-based component of health promotion and disease prevention (HP/DP) program in conjunction with YMCA, Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs, UNITY, Camp Fire USA, All Nations Indian Youth, Tulsa Public Schools Indian Education, Tulsa Public Schools Ropes Challenge Course.

 

 

 

 

2.

Provide support services such as information and referral to community resources, advocacy, and youth development.

 

 

 

 

3.

Perform required reports, records, documentation, and data collection timely and accurately.

 

 

 

 

4.

Assist with various health promotion programs, including youth/family wellness programs, health fairs, and pow wows.

 

 

 

 

5.

Demonstrates ability to be a positive role model for the youth and parents in the program.

 

 

 

 

6.

Develops brochures, pamphlets, charts, and other materials to augment health promotion/disease prevention information to community groups, individual clients, and school-site population.

 

 

 

 

7.

Develops effective approaches to recruit Indian youth into the program.

 

 

 

 

8.

Complies with all AAAHC standards and requirements such as annual TB test, CPR and CEU if applicable.

 

 

 

 

9.

Interacts and communicates with fellow staff in a way that promotes a harmonious and cooperative working environment.

 

 

 

 

10.

Complies with all safety rules and regulations. Follows proper safety procedures and utilizes proper protective equipment at all times.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Bachelor’s degree in Health/Physical Education, Psychology, Education, Counseling, or related area.

CPR Certification.

Ability to demonstrate a special understanding of Indian culture. Familiarity with Native American health care trends.

Intermediate computer skills.  Proficient in MS Office and/or additional applicable software applications.

Strong written and oral communication skills.  Excellent interpersonal skills.

Ability to multi-task and work independently, demonstrating initiative and accuracy in work results.

Must have a valid Oklahoma driver’s license, good driving record and proof of valid liability insurance.

 

Working Conditions

Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. Must be physically fit and active in order to work with children and adults.  Physical activity required. May include lifting or moving up to 50 pounds of equipment. Environment will vary depending on location.  Travel outside the Clinic required.  Flexible work schedule may be required, such as evenings and weekends.
