|
|
|
Works under direct supervision of the Lab Supervisor and Nursing Supervisor. Responsible for assisting the Medical Lab with adequate patient preparation, specimen collection, preparation of specimen and reports. Performs medical procedures as qualified by training and authorized by Clinic Physician. |

Establishes and maintains laboratory departments to IHS, CLIA and OSHA standards. As needed. |

Adherence to proper collection and preparation procedures of the following, Blood, Serum, Urine, Tissue and culture specimen. |

3. |
Completeness of computer data entry and proper laboratory paper work. As needed. |
|

Demonstrated knowledge of Basal State, the need for patient’s co-operation and understanding of procedures. |

Consistency in maintaining daily logs for laboratory and monthly log reports for IHS and IHCRC. |

Performs Ultrasound and EKG procedures as needed. |

Is familiar with and adheres to the Compliance plan and all related policies. Reports questionable activity to Compliance Officer. Maintains accountability for complying with all applicable standards, laws, regulations and procedures governing the delivery of healthcare services and associated processes. |

Complies with all AAAHC standards and requirements such as annual TB test, CPR and CEU if applicable. |

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities |
|
High School graduate or equivalent. Graduate of a formal training school for medical assistants. Current and valid MA certification. |
|
Experience in performing Ultrasound and EKG procedures accurately. |
|
CPR Certification. |
|
Familiarity with MS Office. Intermediate computer skills. |
|
Knowledge of modern laboratory principles and techniques: ability to conduct laboratory work independently; to organize, analyze, and evaluate tests in terms of laboratory controls and methods and/or replicate analysis. |
|
Extensive knowledge of medical terminology and procedures. |
|
Ability to dispense medication, gives injections to patients as instructed by physician, administers immunizations, as well as performs finger sticks for hematocrit and glucose. Triage skills. |
|
Strong written and oral communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. |
|
Ability to multi-task and work independently, demonstrating initiative and accuracy in work results. |
|
Working Conditions |
|
The employee is on feet most of day. Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, carrying of light items (up to 10 pounds) such as books, files, instruments, lifting of small children (up to 50 pounds),and supporting patients is essential. This position performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. Incumbent will be exposed to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens in working environment. Personal protective equipment use required. |
